Lofoten and the Arctic North

Arctic Norway from Tromsø's fjord-side lights south through Lofoten's fishing villages to Bodø on the mainland. The route works in both seasons, but the two seasons are different trips: aurora, whale watching and dark-season quiet from late September to late March, and midnight sun, summit hikes, beaches and the August festivals from June to August. The peaks in this itinerary are summer objectives — Reinebringen and Fløya are stone stairways that turn into avalanche and fall terrain under snow and ice. Pick the season first, then the activities.
